Larisa Iordache is a famous gymnast who was born on June 19, 1996 in Romania. Already in 2008, when she was 12 years old, the Romanian press called Iordache "the new Nadia Comaneci" because of her abilities and potential. The athlete is known as the most successful gymnast at the 2014 European Championships, having won four gold medals. She also won a bronze medal as part of the Romanian team at the 2012 Olympics.
Iordache began training at CSS Dinamo in Bucharest at the age of four and a half. In 2008, she became a member of the national junior team. She was coached by Ramona Miku, Adela Popa, Lacramioara Moldovan and Claudio Moldovan.
In her first year as a senior (aged 16 and up), Iordache won two gold medals at the 2012 European Championships - on team and on floor exercise. In 2013, she won the European title on balance beam. She became the most successful gymnast at the 2014 European Championships, winning gold on team and floor exercise, silver on balance beam and bronze on vault. She is a nine-time World Cup gold medalist.
